2021, what a year!

As 2021 draws to an end, the Work Ready Kāpiti team took the time to reflect on the year that was!

2021 has seen promising growth in Kāpiti’s youth programme - Work Ready Kāpiti, that supports rangatahi to become work ready.

  • 94 participants at the #EmployerMeet events

  • 56 WEX work experience placements have now been completed

  • 4 placements offered paid part/full-time work

The Chair of the Work Ready Kāpiti board, John Scutter says - “Myself and the Work Ready Kāpiti team are very proud of the work that has been achieved in 2021 to ensure our rangatahi are work ready. It hasn't been a year without its challenges, but we are grateful that each of our programmes has been able to be delivered successfully and that some have seen growth.”

We recently engaged with the community at their biennial Stakeholder event to gather vital feedback on their programmes. Attendees included: Council, employers, colleges, Councillors, youth and sponsors and the event was facilitated by Bright Spot Consulting’s Julene Hope.

The interactive event saw crucial feedback gathered on our existing programmes and what’s needed for the year ahead to assist the rangatahi of Kāpiti to become work ready!

The events report will now feed directly into the Boards strategic planning for 2022 and they are excited for the year ahead.

The Board commented, “We would like to take this time to thank you all for your continued support and involvement, without your engagement and enthusiasm to support the rangatahi of Kāpiti our programmes simply wouldn't be possible. We wish you all a wonderful festive season and we look forward to working together again in 2022”
