Work experience has been identified by employers as advantageous to being work ready and therefore helpful in finding employment. It also assists with identifying employment pathways for the future, is useful to put on your CV and you may even get a reference from the experience.
Our work experience programme - WEX, is aimed at 15-24 year olds. Having launched in July 2019, initially as a school holiday programme, the demand from both businesses and youth has led us to extend the programme and we are now offering placements on an ongoing basis - meaning there are always placements available and always students willing to complete them.
We liaise with local employers to secure a diverse and exciting range of placements and local colleges support us in the vetting and matching of youth to suitable placements. If you are interested in completing a placement with a local employer, please discuss this further with your college.
However, if you are not currently attending a local college this does not disqualify you from applying, simply contact us to discuss this further.

Building and Construction
Interested in gaining work experience in a high demand industry like building and construction? Blueprint Construction would love to offer you the opportunity to gain some work experience alongside their team.

Are you keen to get some hospitality experience? We have a fabulous opportunity for someone to get some hands-on experience baking at Bens Buns - this role will require some early morning starts.

Hair With Attitude
Hair with Attitude, located just off the main road in Waikanae, have opened up their studio to local rangatahi for work experience as part of our WEX Programme! If you think you could be a good fit register your interest above.
Responsibilities would include; styling hair, washing hair, making coffee and receptionist duties. In return for the placement the youth will receive a complimentary cut and colour.
