Rudy van Vlerken & Pzazz Building

Rudy is the Owner/Manager of Pzazz Building, North Wellington and Kāpiti Coast. He has worked within the building industry for over 46 years and worked 20 years as a NZ Certified Builder and Licensed Building Practitioner, he also holds his Trade Certificate in Carpentry. 

Rudy first got involved with Work Ready Kāpiti in 2013 as part of the working group, because he wanted to help local youth obtain full-time work and keep them off the street. 

Rudy likes to instil a sense of pride in our youth that in turn drives them to succeed in life.

‘I have spent countless Dollars, lost blood, and shed skin to learn what I have in my life which has helped me to become a successful business owner. To die without passing on my knowledge would be a total waste of time. I have always trained apprentices but now working with and alongside Work Ready Kāpiti I can reach and help countless more youth and help them along their path to employment and success in life. Passing on our skills and knowledge for free is a gift to help the youth of today. Being part of Work Ready Kāpiti, you get to help one on one the youth in our community. To see the smiles and confidence shown after each of our meetings with youth is priceless.’

Rudy has now trained and qualified 22 apprentices in his time and to see all these tradespeople succeed in their goals gives him great pride and he continues to provide both support and sponsorship to Work Ready Kāpiti! He also donates his time by volunteering on the Work Ready Kāpiti Board, providing insight and advice throughout the programme!
